$120,000 SGD + Bonus
The Platform Operations Engineer will be responsible for the smooth running and stability of client and internal systems infrastructure, investigating and resolving issues as they arise while thinking of ways to reduce common problems and monitoring critical systems. This is a customer facing role, with the individual responsible for delivering quality service and support to our current and future client base. Besides your day to day activities, there will also be opportunities for you to be involved in projects and innovation.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in both the Windows and Linux operating systems, Virtual Machines, recently EOL’d and current HP, Dell, and Lenovo Intel-based physical hardware, multiple hypervisor types, multiple block storage solution types/vendors, recently EOL’d and current Intel processor architectures, shell and Python-based scripting, wire-captured off-host telemetry data, host-based telemetry agents, and ITIL (or comparable) operational (incident and problem management) and change management procedures.
Responsibilities and duties :
• Provide support service that ensure infrastructure services are running to its optimum performance and that all departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met
• Ensure stability of all System Services
• Deliver an outstanding level of service to your Customer base
• Interface with vendors, market participants, and financial exchanges
• Display integrity and honesty in all that you do
• Foster open communication between team members, peer team members, and managers to bring forward ideas on how they can collectively deliver a more effective service
• Maximizing availability of infrastructure through continuous improvement and proactive, preventative maintenance
• Ensure that all procedures and policies are up to date and are available for use by all members of the team
• Provide first level problem determination/triage on all client issues (network or systems) before handing off to SME if required
• Using scripts and automation, support deployment and maintenance of applications and system settings
• Recording and taking ownership of issues using our in-house ticketing system through to successful resolution
• Conduct deep dive analysis to determine root cause of technical issues
• Managing daily infrastructure audits and checks
• Work with internal and external auditors
• Provide on call or out of hours’ support as the business requires
Education, Skills and background
• Computer Science / applicable degree, or equivalent work experience is required
• 4 - 8 years of experience in an operational environment
• At least 4 years of operational experience in physical and logical server platforms
• At least 2 years of direct experience with ITIL or another similar best-practice governance model
• Experience in a financial industry support role preferred
• Self-starter with a drive to develop own skills and knowledge
• Experience with Linux and Windows
• RHCE Certified or equivalent
• Experience with monitoring systems to configuration level e.g. Nagios, SolarWinds
• Experience working on bare metal servers in a service provider environment or a large NOC – preferable
• Experience with HP, Dell and/or Lenovo hardware and relevant systems management software
• Experience supporting JVM/.Net based applications
• Experience scripting in Bash, Python, Ruby, and/or Perl
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting server capacity (CPU load, disk space, memory contention, network I/O)
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP and Network services (DNS, DHCP, FTP)
• Understanding of JIRA as a ticketing system
• Familiarity with trading technologies (FIX Protocol, Execution Gateways, Drop Copy)
• Familiarity with networking concepts (Multicast, NAT, Routing Protocols)
• Have excellent communication, influencing and customer management skills
